Women of Ontario Social Enterprise Network (WOSEN)

Women’s social enterprise development is SEE’s focus until the spring of 2023.

WOSEN is focused on catalyzing social innovation ‒ reorganizing (or reimagining) the way the current entrepreneurial system works to enable underrepresented and underserved founders to participate and prosper in business and society.

It aims to create a stronger entrepreneurial ecosystem that supports the development of women-owned and women-led ventures that have a positive social and environmental impact, building a prosperous and resilient economy for all in Ontario.

The WOSEN partnership supports diverse women-identifying social entrepreneurs across Ontario as part of the Federal Government’s Women Entrepreneurship Strategy (WES) Ecosystem Fund to advance gender equality in the economy. Announced in 2018, WES seeks to double the number of women-owned businesses by 2025.This investment is particularly important for northern women who have typically been excluded from the dominant resource-extractive economy.

The WOSEN project is a provide-wide collaborative led by Pillar NonProfit in partnership with NORDIK Institute and SEE, the Centre for Social Innovation (CSI) and Social Venture Connexion (SVX)  with support from Lean4Flourshing. SEE is overseeing the project’s delivery in Northern Ontario.
